Gof - The Wolf
The gof carry the title of Eldest Companion, as many myths signal them as the first that approached people and befriended them. However, these tales have not been sufficient to explain the deterioration of that relationship if indeed it was true to begin with; hence the gof are more feared than appreciated. Regardless, the gof is a popular companion amongst adventurers of all kinds, from traveling fighters to lonely druids guarding sacred cairns; they all value its strength and loyalty once a bond is created. Although they can be seen in an urban setting sometimes, it is usually for a brief stop made by their companions before returning to the wilderness.
Caution is advised when approaching these creatures to make the bond. They have been chased and hunted by peo- ple for centuries who accuse them of devouring their cattle and worse. They indeed eat flesh, but they avoid people and are no more dangerous than other predators of Eluan. Howbeit, if the bond is successful, the adventurer will have a companion for life.
