Mimics are known to take many forms, but it takes a special kind to mimic the form of another creature. Those that have achieved such a power are far more dangerous than a common mimic one might run into in a dungeon, and these particular ones have been bred by Quorenderi's own lieutenants to exist in the depths of his fortress and the sea floor.
This particular mimic, known as the "Clam Mimic," was born in the dark depths of Quorenderi's fortress, bred for a specific purpose. As a young mimic, it was trained to take on the shape of a clam, mastering every detail of its appearance and behaviour. The clam's shell was not only a disguise but also a powerful tool, allowing the mimic to catch prey and defend itself against predators.
When its shell is donned, the mimic is almost indistinguishable from a real clam, even to the most distinguished marine biologists. This makes it a particularly nasty foe for pearl and ink divers off Tharador's coast, and has actively made many of these occupations more deadly over the years.
