Merk - The Meerkat
Dwellers of the deserts and dried lands, the merks are small and social creatures that create great burrows in the ground to protect themselves from the noon heat and their numerous predators. These creatures are incredibly so- cial, and low-maintenance companions. The merks are used as scouts, and form some of the strongest bonds in the world of companions. Despite their small size, they are courageous and immune to poison.
An astounding phenomenon occurs in the first rain of the brief rainy season in the wastelands. The water brings out all the snakes to the surface; when this happens, the merk venture from their burrows and enter a frenzy, hunting all the snakes in the territory.
