Kualaa - The Koala
These creatures need to sleep often. When not eating their unique leaves, the kualaa carry out only a pair of favors for their companion since the leaves they eat are poisonous and slow their metabolism, which they are immune to. These creatures have gray fur with a cream-colored chest, and they are kept by spellcasters or assassins who experiment with their serum as they attempt to create new poisons or potions.
The kualaa's existence was kept a secret by the guild of assassins known as the “Hashtessi,” a powerful organization believed to be behind the assassinations of numerous influential figures, including kings, queens, and archmages. The kualaa were initially found in an uncharted island of the Lyrian Sea where a special kind of tree grows, the one whose leaves they eat. The guild discovered that not only were the leaves extremely deadly and made for a potent poison but that the creatures that ate them were immune to it and also produced the antidote. The assassins procee- ded to harvest the poison and create the serum, that way, they poisoned targets and demanded ransom for the serum afterward. This worked for many years until a pair of the kuaala escaped, and were found by a druid who carefully studied them and helped them multiply.
